  DO NOT BUY MACHINERY FROM HERE. We usually buy our machinery from Carbatec in Springvale and they have been fantastic. Unfortunately they were out of stock on the lathe we needed. Fortunately, Hare and Forbes had the right size lathe in stock. We spent $2,600 on a new lathe. When it arrived and was unboxed, the paint on the side was peeling off at the touch of a finger in 20c sized pieces. When I rang about this, I got a gruff response from “rob” from sales saying they will send me some touch up paint. Not good enough. I bought a new lathe, there should be a new lathe with new paint. I explained this and he asked me to send an email with photos. I did so. I then followed up the email with another phone call, the staff member explained I would need to return the lathe, and pick up another. As this would cost my labour as well as labour for another employee to do so, I explained that this wasn’t good enough. His response was “that’s just the cost of buying new toys”. I explained that this was not a toy, but was for our business and that there mistake is costing me money.
  
  Finally the “new” lathe arrived today. However the driver was unwilling to help unload it (it weighs 200kg) and asked where our forklift was. We don’t have one. Upon closer inspection of their lathe, it appeared as though it had been hit with a forklift. Scratched and damaged and clearly a floor model. After ringing the store to complain, they said it was new out of the box… lies! This lathe was partly assembled!
  
  Highly disappointed. What a joke. Not a single apology from any of the staff, only blaming of “china”. At least offer a voucher or something for the headache and inconvenience you have caused our business.

  TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE
  
  It's obvious that the only reason this company is still operating is because they are one of the few that sell all of this type of equipment under one roof. Any other business with customer service as poor as this would have gone broke a long time ago.
  They are all smiles and promises until they have your cash. Anything after that is like pulling teeth. I rang before I drove to Dandenong to see if a: they had the product I wanted on display and b: if they had stock. I was told yes to both. When I got there the display unit wasn't working and there was no stock. They promised they'd freight the machine to me from Sydney overnight and I'd be up and running Tuesday. It's now Friday. I have been on the phone a dozen times, driven down to Dandenong twice and I still don't have all the parts I need to make the machine work. I have now had to outsource the work to another business and I am due to carry a large loss on this project due to these knuckleheads.
  I am not the type to write a review like this but please understand that I have tried speaking to the company multiple times. I have also spoken to the upper management to try and get this fixed and the only thing I have learned is that the poor management flows from the top all the way through.
  Sorry to have to say this but, if you have another option of somewhere to buy the same product you want, go there. It's not worth the mess-around of dealing with Hare and Forbes.
